People Skills

The people within a Company are the driving force for success and Haigh has considerable employee loyalty. Every year there are presentations for twenty years and even forty years service for people who have been employed since the company was a small factory in a large field.
From left to right Mr Dennis Hussey, Sir Colin Shepherd and Mr Nigel Shepherd identify other long service employees during presentations for forty years service.
Since the early 1960's the company has run an apprenticeship scheme, taking one or two young people every year and giving them the opportunity to develop their engineering skills and career.
Many of todays management rose through the ranks this way and developed a thorough knowledge of the company within a number of roles. Allied to internal apprentice training Haigh have close relationship with Herefordshire & Worcestershire Group Training Association an external organisation where the young trainees attend college for a day every week. After four years of on the job training, qualified electricians and engineers are the result.
Career development is maintained by appropriate courses being taken for specific tasks. In addition regular training is undertaken by selected personnel in confined spaces, slinging and handling, first aid, health and safety and other training appropriate to tasks that individuals undertake.
