INNOVATIVE SYSTEM FOR CONCENTRATING FOODWASTE ON SHIPS TO AVOID STORAGE AND DISPOSAL PROBLEMS.
For most people travelling on ships, either cross-channel ferries, cruiseliners or naval ships, what happens to foodwaste is a mystery.
International maritime rules currently prohibit dumping of untreated waste, but the likelihood is that dumping will altogether become unacceptable.
Haigh Engineering based in Ross-on-Wye who have over forty years experience of designing and building waste handling equipment have joined forces with a Bristol based company to develop a revolutionary answer to this worldwide problem.

The Haigh Food Waste Concentrator (FWC) was designed to prototype and tested in only three months to take a ships foodwaste and turn it into a thick slurry which can be mixed with waste oils and injected into a high efficiency incinerator along with other ship waste.

Mr Nick Shepherd Haigh's Director of Marketing said "The speed that we were able to design, develop and build this brand new product in such a short time is a real credit to the experience and commitment of the Haigh workforce. The machine has been tested in Gosport in a simulated environment and viewed by potential customers that include major cruise lines, Nato and the UK armed forces and we also expect a strong overseas interest."

In addition to innovative new Products such as the Food Waste Concentrator Haigh are specialists in the areas of Hospital bedpan disposal, and solids removal, conditioning and dewatering in the Waste water industry.
